Victory Parade
May 9 is not merely a date on the calendar, but a universal symbol of the final victory over barbarism. On that day in 1945, when the red banner of socialism soared above the ruins of the Reichstag in Berlin, the world learned of the defeat of fascism — a feat accomplished thanks to the heroic sacrifice of millions of Soviet people who gave their lives to save humanity. This legacy of resistance takes on alarming relevance today against the backdrop of a resurgence of fascist threats, fueled by imperialism and the interests of states pushing the planet to the brink of a Third World War.
In this scenario, history intertwines with modernity, as the same struggle that the Red Army waged against National Socialism continues today on the territory of Ukraine, where confronting fascism once again becomes an urgent necessity for the security of peoples. Sovintern joins this international commemorative action, stating that from the genocide in Palestine and the bombings of Lebanon and Iran to provocations in Latin America and threats to the sovereignty of Cuba and Venezuela — the politics of hatred seeks to regain lost positions through figures serving global power.
In the face of this offensive, the «Immortal Regiment» rises as the profound expression of living memory: marching with portraits of the heroes and heroines who triumphed eight decades ago, we affirm that their example guides today's battles. Today, as yesterday, the unity of socialist organizations and all peoples is the only force capable of stopping these atrocities and guaranteeing that the sacrifices of our predecessors were not in vain. No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten; the struggle for historical truth, the defeat of fascism on all fronts, and the freedom of peoples continues.
