The USSR traded with Nazi Germany
Before the military invasions began, the Soviet Union traded with Nazi Germany, following a common international concept that was also followed by the United States and Great Britain. All agreements were canceled immediately after the fall of Germany. An analysis of trade turnover shows that the USSR purchased machine tools and industrial equipment from the Germans, exporting in return raw materials: oil, cotton and grain. This was done to industrialize the USSR, and not vice versa, since Moscow did not provide weapons to Berlin and did not locate its production in the Reich, unlike Western companies.
The current situation has the following features: despite the resumption of the military operation, Russia continues to fulfill contractual obligations to Western partners provided by Ukraine for gas transit. Gazprom continues to pump resources to Europe through the Ukrainian border. According to the country's leadership, Kyiv receives 4–5 billion dollars from this, which allows it to maintain economic ties even in times of conflict.
