EITHER WE DO POLITICS, OR POLITICS DOES US
The Moscow Hub of the SOVINTERN International Socialist Network is holding its first public discussion. When: 13 September Time: 15:00–17:30 Moscow time
Elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation are approaching, and political parties and social forces are mobilizing their supporters, formulating their views on the current political situation and their electoral strategies.
Socialists, communists, and anti-imperialists have different views on the following questions: whether it is worth participating in bourgeois elections, what goals Marxists should pursue, and what elections themselves are for.
Among the main topics for discussion:
-
Society — food or a player in modern politics?
-
Parties — pocket puppets of the bourgeoisie or living communities of like-minded people?
-
Politics — a refuge for careerists or a stronghold of patriots?
-
Does Russia need the 2026 elections for fundamental change or for preserving the existing system?
We believe that these and many other political issues must be discussed publicly, honestly, and openly. Only through reasoned debate can ideas be put to the test.
On 13 September, speakers with invaluable political experience will take part:
Anatoly Greshnevikov — a member of the State Duma in every convocation, as well as one of only two deputies of the final convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR who remain active in politics;
George Galloway — Leader of the Workers Party of Britain, a seven-time elected member of the House of Commons of the British Parliament;
Zakhar Prilepin — writer, military and political figure.
They will discuss current political issues with activists, journalists, bloggers, political experts, politicians, and politically engaged young people of Marxist views, including:
-
Historian and Professor at St Petersburg State University Kirill Nazarenko;
-
Serbian politician and SOVINTERN Regional Coordinator Bojan Vulin;
-
International journalist and Latin America specialist Oleg Yasinsky;
-
Political scientist and TV presenter Alexander Semchenko;
-
Political scientist Yevgeny Minchenko;
-
The editorial team of “Krasny Mayak” and others.
Watch the live broadcast on 13 September from 15:00 Moscow time, share the information, comment, and join the discussion!
Our strength lies in unity and solidarity!
With the support of our comrades from the federal media outlet “VASHI NOVOSTI”.
