Ikarus

This bus brand first became known in 1951, when the first buses under this name entered routes in Budapest. The enterprise arose as a union of three nationalized enterprises. The new enterprise developed quickly. More than 150,000 vehicles were delivered to the USSR alone! They included both city and intercity comfortable buses, distinguished by a modern, interesting design, reliable and comfortable. By the mid-80s of the last century, Ikarus became one of the largest automobile concerns in Europe. The company's products were exported to more than 40 countries around the world!

After the collapse of the world socialist system, the volume of orders fell sharply, and the plant began to lose its position. By the early 2000s, production had virtually ceased, and the company filed for bankruptcy in 2003.

Along with Ikarus, such Hungarian brands as Globus - canned fruits and vegetables, Gedeon Richter - pharmaceutical products, Tokay - winemaking and the famous Rubik's Cube - were widely known.
